Xtreme fabric upholstery

Xtreme is a modern fabric made of 100% recycled polyester.

Its elastic properties, combined with its abrasion resistance, as well as its anti-pilling properties, make Xtreme an appropriate fabric that ensures a long service life. Xtreme is certified for the EU Ecolabel.

Dynamic neck rest

The neck rest is designed to ensure adequate support for the neck area and is height-adjustable (up to 125 mm) to meet and satisfy the postural requirements of most users.

Backrest tilt and height adjuster

Self-adjusting backrest tilt, which automatically provides the right amount of support throughout the entire tilt range, regardless of the user's weight (from 45kg up to 136kg).

In addition, the height can be adjusted for comfortable lumbar and back support (up to 70mm).

Synchronised and tiltable armrests

The armrests can be adjusted in height and synchronously, with the obvious advantage of providing additional comfort for the arms and shoulders as well, avoiding unnecessary and tiring loads.

The armrests are not only height-adjustable but, integrated into the backrest frame, also automatically adjust when tilting the backrest with an additional postural benefit: the weight of the arms is absorbed by the armrest support, preventing annoying discomfort.

In addition, the armrests are adjustable to a minimum height position, i.e. they can be lowered almost to the height of the seat to allow a prolonged posture towards the desk, with the arms resting on the work surface, thus allowing the armrests to be positioned well below the desk.

Designer Niels Diffrient

Niels Diffrient's designs are based on the philosophy that form follows function.

His work has been through generations, constantly looking to past trends to reinvent the tools we use for everyday life.

With an academic foundation in design and architecture and a degree from Cranbrook Academy, Diffrient channels his knowledge of engineering, architecture and human factors into the creation of highly functional and aesthetically timeless designs.

From his early work with the studios of Eero Saarinen, Marco Zanuso and Henry Dreyfuss to his current work with Humanscale, Diffrient's visionary talent has been widely recognised. His numerous awards include the 2002 National Design Award from the Smithsonian's Cooper-Hewitt, National Design Museum, and the 1999 Chrysler Design Award.

In recent years, Diffrient has focused his energies on office environment design, particularly seating - a category in which he has pioneered numerous innovations, from pneumatic cylinders for seat height adjustment to weight-activated automatic recline.
